Payout Percentage

In the context of slot gambling, the payout percentage (also known as the return-to-player or RTP figure) is the percentage of money that a slot machine is programmed to pay out to its players.

Classic, mechanical slot machines were purely random. In this way they were similar to regular table games, such as blackjack and roulette. Modern, electronic slots, on the other hand, are interconnected and can be programmed to pay out a set percentage of the total bet amount over their lifespan.

When playing online, it is important to choose a reputable venue whose payout percentages are audited by a reputable agency, such as eCOGRA.
