Professor of Gambling – Story of Richard Jarecki, a Doctor who Beat Roulette

Home > Blog > News > Professor of Gambling – Story of Richard Jarecki, a Doctor who Beat Roulette
Richard Jarecki near a wheel, proving to be one of the greatest roulette winners stories

Dr. Richard Jarecki is the Godfather of all high-rolling gamblers and boasts one of the most famous roulette success stories. Rolling in the top European casinos, Jarecki was the only one to perfectly beat the Roulette and win millions in the 1960s.

Hollywood often depicts scheme-plotting gamblers who cheat at casino card games and win immeasurable amounts of money. In today’s world of high security in the casinos and especially with the dominance of online casino games, such romantic events seem unlikely. Even the luckiest gamblers, such as the Baccarat Queen, suffer the consequences.

However, very few have endeavored to crack Roulette, as it was considered to be a true game of chance. Nevertheless, Richard Jarecki has devised a detailed plan on how to beat the game.

Roulette Strategy

Before Dr. Jarecki became a top gambler, he was a physician, as well as a famous medical researcher, even winning a prestigious peace prize for international cooperation in medicine. In the 1960s, he became a fan of Roulette. Being a gambler from an early age, he was observant and noticed that the same Roulette wheels would remain in place for years. This means that the tiny defects would pile up and affect the game.

The doctor began to manually record the wheel’s statistics. Eventually, Jarecki determined that if numbers 1, 2, and 3 won the last 3 rounds, he would be likely to determine which would win the next 3 rounds.

He wasn’t the first to crack the code and win major numbers on Roulette. However, he was the first one to do it all by himself and perfect his method.

Big Wins

After collecting enough data, Dr. Jarecki has bet with $100 and got $5000, or about $41,000 adjusted for inflation. After moving to Germany from New Jersey, he has won major jackpots in local casinos. The geographical factor was key to his future success.

In comparison to the American Roulette, European Roulette had fewer slots (as it had just one 0 slot). As a result, it offered better odds – casino house edge was just 2.7%.

Jarecki’s winning operations now included casinos of Monaco, France and Germany. He and his wife Carol have recruited 8 people to record the Roulette wheel statistics. Collectively, these “clockers” have recorded more than 20,000 spins.

In 1964, he started his first major winning streak. In just half a year, he won £625,000 or about $6,700,000 nowadays.

After becoming a worldwide sensation, he drained a casino in San Remo twice, winning roughly $2,500,000 from it overall. Eventually, most casinos would start to replace the old wheels and monitor their players closely.

Richard Jarecki’s Later Life

Gambling until the end of 1969, winning today’s equivalent of $8,000,000 and terrorizing casino owners in the process, Dr.Richard Jarecki has later moved back to the USA. After growing tired of the casinos in Atlantic City, he moved to the Philippines, which is now a growing gambling market of its own, and lived there for the remainder of his life.

This story surely might inspire some players to go and play online Roulette to honor the late Roulette king. You can also find a more detailed story of how Richard Jarecki beat Roulette here
