Hit

In blackjack, to hit means to ask the dealer for another card. During their turn, the active blackjack player has two choices. They can either hit and ask for an extra card, or they can stand and take the points they have now. A blackjack player can hit as much as they want, up until the point at which they exceed 21 points.

New players will typically hit up until a score of 17 or more. Once at this position, most players will stand. Gamblers playing using basic strategy will act according to the scenario prescribed to them.
