New York Casinos Have Begun Launching Retail Sports Betting this Week

Home > Blog > News > New York Casinos Have Begun Launching Retail Sports Betting this Week
Those few casinos that are in New York are now offering sports betting.

Even with the headache of traveling upstate, New York sports bettors have finally landed the opportunity to wager without going beyond the confines of the state’s boundaries. The sports bettors from this week will not mind making it upstate to begin their maiden wagering.

River casino gaming on Rush Street launched a new sportsbook in Schenectady on Tuesday. The River Casino’s sports betting activities will be powered by Kambi, a tech provider. Wednesday will see Tioga Downs launch its sports betting operations in Nichols. However, bettors will wait for the grand opening scheduled for Friday to begin testing their experience. Unlike at River Casino, FanDuel will power sports betting at Tioga Downs.

It was only last month that the state lawmakers approved laws regulating land-based wagering. The launch of the two firms was planned even before obtaining their respective betting licenses. However, their diplomas are enough tools to see them being issued with the licenses at their events.

On the other hand, the other two leading players have remained quiet about their plans after the passing of the bill. Resorts World Catskills (Bet365) and del Lago Resort & Casino (DraftKings) have not indicated the days they would go live.

The tribal gaming operators in the state have shown their interest in going live but with no dates of the event. Besides, the firm has not disclosed its technology partner. The tribal operators have product parity right with Seneca Nation of Indians. It’s worth noting that the two betting players are commercial cousins and do their activities in unison.

Oneida Indian Nation has opted to wait until the first day of next month to unroll its big day. The firm revealed that Turning Stone and Point Place Casino are the bases that will launch the action in August. Caesars Entertainment will power the sportsbook operations at Oneida Indian Nation. Though still silent on the dates, the Yellow Brick Road Casino will trail their competitors before summer ends.

Only a week ago, Saint Regis Mohawks made known their partnership deal with The Star Group. The comprehensive deal includes casinos, betting kiosks, porker products, and online wagering. It’s visible that most components of the agreement can only come to effect after further legislation from the state. NY Senate has approved online/mobile betting, but the state did not make it on time to pass the bill during the legislative season.
