Following ISO Certification, NetEnt Joins Switzerland’s iGaming Market

Swedish iGaming provider NetEnt has recently obtained the necessary certification to be able to offer its online services in Switzerland. The nation legalized online gaming in the summer of 2018 and then revamped its iGaming market in 2019. In order for operators to be eligible to offer online services, they must be able to meet a rigorous set of standards and obtain an ISO 27001 certification.

The ISO 27001 is an international standard that verifies that a business uses a high-quality, systematic approach when managing sensitive information. For instance, employee details, customer data, and financial records are assets that must be stored in a secure manner. During the certification, checks are performed on the information’s security, as well as the system’s framework and network configuration.

The ISO testing process is carried out by independent certification bodies. What this means is that a company is not certified by the International Organization for Standardization itself. Rather, an accredited third-party company performs the necessary checks and can then issue a certificate of compliance to the requirements of the ISO standard.

Some organizations choose to become ISO certified in order to reassure clients they are following industry best practices. In NetEnt’s case, the company became certified in order to expand its market base to regulated iGaming markets. In addition to this, NetEnt’s new ISO certification will allow it to join the World Lottery Association.

Henrik Fagerlund, who is the Managing Director of the company’s Maltese offices, has stated that the ISO certification is a direct result of his team’s conscientious work and dedication. Fagerlund said that NetEnt had proven itself to be a dependable and trustworthy partner to its players.

Switzerland is the first regulated iGaming market that NetEnt has decided to join after obtaining the ISO 27001 certification. The provider’s games are currently available at the online venues of Grand Casinos Baden (via Paf’s platform) and Luzern (via Gamanza’s platform). However, over the next few months, NetEnt will partner with several more unnamed casinos. Fagerlund has stated that part of NetEnt’s growth strategy is to strengthen its standing in regulated markets.

Another recent development within NetEnt was its acquisition of Red Tiger in Fall 2019. Red Tiger is a leading online provider and is famous for its assortment of daily jackpot games. The company had 170 employees, 120 of which were laid off. Most of the employees who lost their jobs had worked in the Malta and Stockholm offices.

NetEnt has said that the integration with Red Tiger will foster competitiveness and encourage creativity within the company. Therese Hillman, the CEO of NetEnt Group, has commented on the situation, saying that this acquisition will enhance the company’s global reach and increase international market revenue.

Gavin Hamilton, who is Red Tiger’s CEO, gave a public statement regarding his excitement in becoming part of NetEnt. He believes that having access to NetEnt’s resources will drive innovation at Red Tiger and provide wonderful products for customers.
