Spooking

In the context of land-based gambling, spooking is a two-person cheating technique used in blackjack. One of the cheaters plays the game while the other stands in such a way as to try and see the dealer’s hole card. The accomplice then attempts to share this information with the cheater. 

Spooking can also sometimes be done without an accomplice. This involves a greased dealer who signals the contents of the hole card directly to the cheater.

In most casinos, spooking is a non-issue as modern casino surveillance techniques allow casino staff to spot cheaters quickly and effectively.
