Pit Boss

In the context of land-based gambling, a pit boss a casino staff member who is responsible for overseeing everything happening in the game room, including the players and the other staff. A pit boss does everything from giving comps to high rollers to settling disputes between the players and the dealers.

One of the core functions of the pit boss is to prevent cheating by monitoring the actions of both of both the players (e.g. to check if they are capping) and the dealers (e.g. to see if they are being greased).
