In the context of gambling, a layout refers to the specialized markings on the game table that divide it into separate sectors. While it is possible to play on a regular table, a specialized layout helps organize the game and streamline the playing process. Layouts are most often used in casinos, but they can also be purchased online for use in casual home games.

Many casino games, such as craps, roulette, and blackjack, come with their own specialized layouts.

Let’s take a look at blackjack as an example. A typical blackjack table layout includes a sector for the dealer’s chip tray, markings indicating the payoffs (e.g. blackjack pays 3:2), and the house rules in regards to when the dealer draws and when they stand (e.g. dealer must draw to 16 and stand on all 17’s). In addition to that, the layout features sectors for the players’ cards and their bets.
