Hit Rate (Slots)
In the context of slots, the term hit rate refers to the frequency with which winning combinations appear on the reels of the machine. For example, if a machine advertises a hit rate of 25%, players can expect a winning combination to appear on the reels about once every four spins.
Colloquially, slots with a low hit rate are called «tight», whereas machines that pay out frequently are considered to be «loose». However, a machine’s hit rate has no relation to its return to player figure, so «loose» machines don’t necessarily pay players more.
