Easter Island 2 Slot Review

Yggdrasil’s comic moais are back! Leaving behind their home island in the South Pacific and not forgetting to bring along their bird sidekick, they head to LA’s Venice Beach. Not to join the beeline for the grungy Venice Boardwalk, but as a change of scene as they ginger up the slot spinning action with an array of features. Can players expect any feature alterations? Is the potential greater? What about the math model? Let’s find the answers to all these questions!

Slot Details: Skin, Algorithm Stats, Paytable, & Basic Rules

Jamming to the upbeat tune in the background while harmonizing it, the moais present a 6×4 grid. That’s an upgrade from the 5×3 default set up we saw in the original, but one seeing the default payline count drop to 25 from 27. Hmm… We can’t help but think they made an error here. A bad start for the prequel, but there’s still hope.

Visually, things certainly look livelier. Venice Beach’s carefree partying aura replaces the humdrum East Island landscape, where the hardened volcanic ash giants settle for a holiday. Joining them on their sojourn is possible on any internet-enabled device with bets ranging from 0.25 to 300 Euros. An all-inclusive bet range there and one that suggests low risk as proven by the medium volatility setting and friendly RTP rating (96%).

There are no major changes when it comes to the basic rules. Land at least three of a kind, and you have yourself a winner. The same symbols from the original are given a touch-up to make a return, with the payouts remaining more or less the same.

Symbol Swap Re-spins

Symbol swap re-spins is the first carryover when it comes to the features. It can go two ways. First, when there is a winning combination involving high-pays (fish, snake, turtle, fox & bird), all high-pay instances will be replaced by the win triggering high-pay during the re-spin. Second, when there is a winning combination involving low-pays (blackjack icons), all low-pay instances will be replaced by the win triggering low pay during the re-spin.

Expanding Reels

Expanding reels is the other feature carried over from the original slot. There are some changes, though. While the original offered a re-spin with a grid upgrade for winning combinations of four and five-of-a-kind, Easter Island 2 only gives one for a 6-of-a-kind. The grid upgrade, in this case, comprises an 8×6 playing area with 55 paylines.

Easter Island 2 Bonus Round

Colossal Re-spins

The named feature is the first to be introduced by the sequel. And it is not that complicated. You will get a re-spin with 2×2, 3×3, and 4×4 giant symbols if you manage to land a winning combination of 4, 5, and 6 of a kind.

Colossal Wilds

Instead of expanding wilds like in the original, we get colossal wilds. These are formed by the moais’ bird sidekick and are added to the reels in colossal re-spins.

Easter Island 2- Our Verdict

If we were to be extremely friendly, Easter Island 2 is a better slot than the original. It introduces new features, looks better, and has a boosted potential of 2500x. If we were stern, on the other hand, we feel Yggdrasil could have done better. It is sad to see the upgraded playing area wasted with 25 paylines. And yes, the payline count can increase to 55, but it’s not enough. No wonder the potential is low, compared to what we are getting from Yggdrasil’s competitors.
