For Danger Zone’s layout, Booming Games goes for something we have not seen before with any of their previous releases- a 6X4 grid that utilizes 25 paylines across the board. The bets start from as low as €0.25 to a high 250 for a single spin.

Digging deeper under the hood, you discover a low volatility setting, which reminds you of the previously-released Wild Energy Slot. That is not the only similarity because both these slots rely on Wilds to unleash their greatest potential, which we will come to later. The default Return to Player Percentage, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found when we were doing the review, but judging by the other slots on this provider’s portfolio, it must be in the safe range.

Like all the low volatility slots, expect Danger Zone to dish out small wins frequently right from the word go. Moving on to the slots paytable, don’t expect to come across something unfamiliar. There is a quintuple of blackjack icons acting as the Minors and a tetrad of precious stones representing the Majors. The other majors, which must be Rhodonite, Tsavorite Garnet, and chalcanthite judging by their appearance, however, do not fall too far behind in terms of rewards as they can pay up to 8, 6, & 4 times your bet respectively.

When it comes to triggering the wins, it is as easy as lining up three or more identical symbols across an active payline. Because there are only 6 reels, only combinations of up to 6 symbols are possible. Helping you to cobble the wins together with its substituting powers is a wild symbol that resembles a circular warning sign. On top of its substituting powers, it is a payer on its own with rewards of up to 80 times your bet.

Bursting Major Dynamite

Like all the slots tackling the mining theme, Danger Zone relies hugely on the activities involved in real life mining to execute its extras. This time, it’s blasting off through the shaft with dynamite, which is less impressive than the drilling wilds we saw in TNT Tumble, but more powerful.

On any spin, symbols that take the shape of bundled together dynamite sticks can show up on the grid alongside the regular symbols and the wilds. Their appearance doesn’t come unannounced as everything begins to shake up right before they land and go off to transform themselves, plus up to 8 of the symbols around them into Majors.

Bonus Round Featuring Bursting Wild Dynamite

Scatters are represented by danger-skulls. At least 3 of them are required to gain entry into an 8 free spins bonus round, where the dynamite explosions will spawn wilds instead of Majors.

Because wilds are the premier symbols in the game, a full grid of them will award the biggest possible payout of 2000 times your bet. Wondering how we arrived at that figure? It’s just simple maths; a full line of wilds pays 80X, right? Take that and multiply it by the total number of available paylines (80X25). That gives you 2000. Assuming you are playing on the max bet (€250), you can easily walk away with €500000 on one of these sessions, which will not be that hard to trigger all thanks to this slot’s low volatility.

Verdict

To be honest, Danger Zone is one of those slots where we do not know what stand to take when it comes to delivering the final verdict. On one hand, you have a good-looking slot with well-executed extras that are sadly not utilized fully by a mediocre max potential. On the other, you have a slot running on a super-friendly math model with recurrent extras, where the big wins are only reserved for those with the ability to place insane bets of up to €250 per spin.

One thing’s pretty clear, though. Danger Zone is an entertaining slot where all types of players have something to mine. While the more laid back players will be here to stack up the just about guaranteed small wins on every other spin, the high-rollers will confidently select the upper bet limit and set off on a mission to bag a decent €500000 in the bonus round, which should just be a couple of spins away!
