Auto Hold (Video Poker)

In the context of video poker, auto hold is a convenience feature that automatically chooses the best cards for the player to hold onto. As each video poker variant has to be played with a slightly different strategy, auto hold allows players to get the highest possible win rate without having to spend time learning the optimal way to play the machine.

In many cases, using the auto hold feature will slightly lower the poker machine’s payout odds. Depending on how good the player is at the video poker variant, it may or may not be worth it for them to use auto play. If the player is new to video poker, they are likely to make many mistakes, so it’s best for them to play with the auto play option enabled. If the player is a poker expert who makes very few mistakes, the decreased payout odds will not be worth it.
