American Sports Betting Preferences 2019: Against College Sports Betting, Bet With Friends

Home > Blog > News > American Sports Betting Preferences 2019: Against College Sports Betting, Bet With Friends

In a March survey of AP-NORC, it was revealed that most Americans are okay with sports betting on professional sports, but most of them are against betting on college sports. Apart from that, there are several noteworthy results that showcase how Americans feel about sports betting and how they prefer to bet — online or in a casino.

1063 people were surveyed, with 60% supporting legalized betting on professional sports, while 42% were in favor of college sports betting.

The demographic was quite varied however, as only half of the respondents were sports fans, while even less would make bets. With that in mind, 52% of sports fans consider college sports betting to be okay.

Sports Betting Preferences

Those that are already betting have shown the following preferences:

  • Betting in a social setting — 32%
  • Betting in a casino — 20%
  • With an app — 10%
  • At a stadium — 8%

In contrast, those that would be interested in sports betting, but have not tried yet, would have it a bit differently:

  • Betting in a casino — 37%
  • At a stadium — 26%
  • With an app — 23%
